If you flash back a few years, you could only search for news, updates, and information on search engines, with Google as the master. But last year, OpenAI introduced a search feature called ChatGPT Search to ChatGPT.

It allows you to browse the web more easily by providing fast answers to your search queries and sending links to verify and read further if you’d like. ChatGPT Search can provide the latest sports scores, stock quotes, and news. This feature is available for ChatGPT Plus or Pro users.

Now, on June 13, OpenAI improved ChatGPT Search to provide more detailed and accurate responses. Here are some specific improvements it has:

  • ChatGPT Search is better at following instructions, even over extended chats.
  • It can answer image-based queries better (you can upload an image and it’ll understand and carry out a web search for you).
  • It will now repeat itself less often.
  • It can answer more complex questions by doing various searches simultaneously behind the scenes.
  • It has better memory.

Any downsides? Well, yeah. ChatGPT Search may now provide longer answers than you need. Also, OpenAI warns that ChatGPT can still make mistakes despite this improvement and advises users to confirm answers from sources.

It’s thrilling watching how Artificial Intelligence continues to evolve and improve with the user in mind. Just how far we’ll get with AI remains to be seen!
