The Nigerian music scene is no stranger to rivalries. Still, the events at Obi’s House, a popular weekly celebrity gathering hosted by DJ Obi in Lagos, have taken things to a new level. What started as a night of music and vibes quickly escalated into a physical altercation involving Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, DJ Tunez (longtime official DJ to Wizkid), and their respective teams. The fallout has since dominated social media, with videos going viral, accusations flying, and the Nigerian DJ Association stepping in.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts and circulating footage, the tension reportedly began around the music selection. DJ Tunez was on the decks (or overseeing selections) at the high-profile event. Reports suggest Burna Boy or members of his team became upset when Wizkid’s tracks dominated the playlist, with some claiming requests for Burna Boy’s music were ignored or not prioritized.
The situation escalated from words to action. Videos show a chaotic scene with pushing, swinging, and security intervening. DJ Tunez ended up on the ground, with reports describing him being outnumbered and stomped on by multiple individuals (allegedly around 10 men wearing Timberland boots). He sustained visible injuries in the scuffle.
DJ Tunez later broke his silence on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Burna Boy of initiating the violence by hitting him from behind:
“FIRST OFF… YOU HIT ME IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD WITHOUT ME LOOKING! THAT’S SOME SUCKA SHIT MY BOY!”
He maintained it was a one-sided group attack but claimed he stood his ground.
Burna Boy, on the other hand, addressed the incident during an Instagram Live session with Shallipopi on April 8. He insisted he only slapped DJ Tunez twice, instructed his team not to touch him further, and then waited in the club for about four hours, expecting possible retaliation (potentially from Wizkid’s side) that never came. He swore on his mother and Ogun (a traditional deity) to back up his version, emphasizing that he didn’t need 10 men to handle the situation.

Wizkid, who was not physically present at the event, wasted no time reacting. In a series of pointed posts on X, he blasted the alleged group attack on his DJ:
“P*ssy n*gga jump a dj with 10 man carry diddy towel dey dance. I never see fool like this diddy babe for my life.”
The post referenced a viral video of Burna Boy dancing in a towel (mockingly compared to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent headlines) and labeled the incident as cowardly. Wizkid also suggested legal consequences might follow.
This isn’t the first time the long-standing Wizkid-Burna Boy rivalry has simmered in public, though the two have shared stages and collaborated in the past. Fans were quick to divide along “Wizkid FC” and “Burna Boy Army” lines, turning timelines into battlegrounds with memes, old clips, and heated debates.

The Nigerian DJ Association didn’t stay silent. Following the incident, they reportedly issued a temporary ban on playing Burna Boy’s music across member sets, citing the alleged assault on one of their own (DJ Tunez is a respected figure in DJ circles). This move added fuel to the fire and sparked discussions about artist-DJ dynamics in the industry.
Burna Boy was also seen in follow-up clips dancing and seemingly mocking the situation, further intensifying online discourse.
