Ibom Air Hostess Assault: Here’s The Full Gist

If you thought Nollywood had all the drama, hold our zobo.

Because what happened on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos recently had everything: suspense, action, plot twists, and even a wig-snatching scene.

Here’s how the Ibom air hostess assault all started:

A passenger, Miss Comfort Emmanson, was on board, minding her business… well, not exactly. The cabin crew asked her to switch off her phone as per flight rules, but she refused. We’re talking straight “Nope” energy. That was when the water started getting hot!

The crew tried to talk to her calmly, but things went from “Madam, please cooperate” to “Oh my God, what’s happening?” real quick. After landing, instead of the usual “Thank you for flying with us,” we got full-blown WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).

According to Ibom Air’s statement, Miss Comfort allegedly:

  • Stepped on the Purser (the senior air hostess)
  • Snatched her wig and glasses
  • Slapped her
  • Tried to grab a fire extinguisher like she was in an action movie
  • And even fought off security staff

Yes, this all happened on Nigerian soil, not in an episode of The Real Housewives of Lagos. At this point, steam everywhere from boiling water!

Ibom Air did not take it lightly. They announced a permanent ban on her flying with them, reported her to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and the Airline Operators of Nigeria took it up a notch: a lifetime no-fly ban across all member airlines. Basically, she’s grounded… for life.

But that’s not where the gist ends. At all.

The internet streets went wild. Some people were like, “Yes, actions have consequences,” while others, including political figure Peter Obi and activist Aisha Yesufu, cried “selective justice.”

They pointed out that high-profile folks like KWAM 1 and Adams Oshiomhole have allegedly done similar things without facing this kind of public humiliation.

We started seeing posts like, Kwam 1 went scot free, but Kwam 2 (referring to Miss Comfort) entered yawa.

Then, there are some who are especially pained at the fact that the drama was posted on social media, including the part that exposed Miss Comfort’s boobs after the right.

So now, apart from the actual fight, we’ve got a whole other debate: Is this justice or just double standards with a side of public shaming? In short, everything is hot on, especially on X (Twitter), right now.

Our Two Cents:

Flight rules exist for a reason; turbulence and stubbornness don’t mix. But the way this one played out shows that in Nigeria, even airplane drama can turn into a national conversation about power and justice.

Latest Gist On Ibom Air Hostess Assault

Thanks to the uproar on social media, some eyewitness stories popped up on X, giving a fuller picture of this event.

According to a man who claimed to be on the same Ibom Air flight, the air hostess actually overdid things with Miss Emmanson before things got out of hand.

After the hostess asked her to switch off her phone, Miss Emmanson explained that her phone was already in flight mode and couldn’t switch it off.

Then, the air hostess did not handle things professionally but instead smashed her phone on the floor and called her a prostitute.

After these came to light, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) issued a press release to stand up for Miss Comfort. According to the release, “The NBA demands that Ibom Air immediately withdraw the lifetime ban, issue a public apology to Ms. Emmanson, and cooperate fully with an impartial investigation into this incident.”

The release mentioned that the NBA stands ready to provide pro bono (free) services for Miss Emmanson on this matter. This response brought a sense of relief for the public, as they welcomed a professional body standing up for Miss Emmanson.
